ICA San Diego is thrilled to announce our inaugural monthly C You Saturday! events.

Beginning this March, on the third Saturday of every month, a brand-new event series will bring

together cutting-edge contemporary art exhibitions, performances, family-friendly activities,

artist conversations, music, and more, to celebrate contemporary art with the San Diego County

creative community.

In celebration of our new exhibitions, Edra Soto: Graft and Narsiso Martínez: Rethinking

Essential, we invite our community to gather and grow; chill out or be challenged in a space for

enjoyment, exchange, and open dialogue.

Are you an ICA Member? You’ll receive a complimentary Members Only Preview with

artist Narsiso Martínez and Executive Director, Andrew Utt starting at 3:30 pm and two free

C You Saturday! is free and open to everybody. A monthly celebration where our community can

gather and grow; chill out or be challenged. It’s an event for enjoyment, exchange, and open

dialogue. There is something for everyone!

3:30 pm – 4:00 pm | Members Only Preview of Narsiso Martínez’s exhibition

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm | Check-in Edra Soto: Graft and Narsiso Martínez: Rethinking Essential open to public.

– Food for Purchase: By Flavor Lab. A conscious, plant-based test kitchen.

– Cash Bar: Sundrop Coffee & Humboldt Distillery wine and spirits. Members receive two free drink vouchers.

4:00 pm – 6:00 pm | Printmaking with your Family! 

In conversation with Edra Soto’s exhibition, create your own print inspired by the geometrically-patterned rejas (wrought-iron gates) and quiebrasoles (decorative concrete breeze blocks) found around many Puerto Rican homes.

4:00 pm – 4:45 pm | Art of Elan Performance 

Art of Elan, in collaboration with ICA San Diego, explores music as an entry point into the world of visual art in response to Edra Soto’s exhibition Graft.

Art of Elan’s performance takes us on a journey: from the timeless music of J. S. Bach that can be found in almost every corner of the world to the vibrant sounds of composers Marco Granados, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Angelica Negrón, whose compositions all explore the intricacies of cross-cultural identities.
